Danielle and Wes have been best friends since college, so when Wes needs a date for his sister’s wedding and Dani needs a partner for her company’s retreat, they devise the perfect plan: a fake engagement to get through both events unscathed. Adrenaline-junkie Wes can prove to both his ex and his family that he’s well and truly moved on, and serious-minded Dani can prove to her boss that she’s worthy of the promotion he seems to only want to give to a family-oriented employee.

But amid the fake swoons, fake kisses, and forced proximity, neither expects the very real feelings that develop. There’s nothing more dangerous than falling for your best friend…but what if the landing is worth the fall?

My thoughts...
I really enjoyed this story. It wasn't anything new as far as story goes, we've seen the movies and read the books where friends get together and pretend to be engaged for functions and end up falling in love but even so I still found this story highly entertaining.

I enjoyed both of the characters in this story. Dani is a responsible woman and Wes is a fly by the seat of your pants guy. The two of them together really balance each other out. When they were in college they kissed each other to see what it would be like and wound up with a fragile friendship on their hands. It took some time but they were finally able to get back into the friend zone without it being awkward and neither of them want to endanger their friendship again. So when things start changing between the two of them, they both deny their feelings in order to keep things from getting awkward.

This was a sweet romance that had me smiling throughout the whole story. The author has a great way of writing a story that really draws you in and makes you feel like her characters are your friends. I was really sad when this story ended and would love it if there was a sequel to the story even if there really is no point to it. I just didn't want to say good bye to Wes and Dani.

Favorite part...
This isn't my favorite part because of the proposal. It's my favorite part because it shows how close of a bond that these two have.

"I'm getting down on one knee right now," We said, but she could also hear the crunch of chips, meaning he was most likely sitting on his couch, spilling crumbs all over himself.

"Danielle I-forget-your-middle-name Vega-"

"You don't know my middle name?"

"You've got, like, three of them, and they're all in Spanish."

"I've only got two, and names are names."

"Oh, like you remember mine."

"Jonathan."

"Okay, fine, you win this round. Now if you'd stop busting my chops, I'm trying to ask you something here." The sound of more crunching chips came over the line. "So like I was saying... Danielle two-middle-names Vega, will you do me the honor of pretending you're going to marry me?"

Cindi Madsen sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.

  1. Oh my word how cute are they! I love the whole fake relationship theme even if it shows up pretty often. It's just so entertaining to watch it all sneak up on them. Thanks so much for bringing a new one to my attention!! It sounds perfect for a cold winter afternoon snuggling at home :)
