Chloe Saunders is fifteen and would love to be normal. Unfortunately, Chloe happens to be a genetically engineered necromancer who can raise the dead without even trying. She and her equally gifted (or should that be 'cursed'?) friends are now running for their lives from the evil corporation that created them.

As if that's not enough, Chloe is struggling with her feelings for Simon, a sweet-tempered sorcerer, and his brother Derek, a not so sweet-tempered werewolf. And she has a horrible feeling she's leaning towards the werewolf...

Definitely not normal.

My thoughts...
Nooo! I'm not ready for it to end! Just when things started to get interesting between Chloe and Derek too. Hrrrmpphhhh (disgruntled noise)

Again, Armstrong picks up right where book number two left off... literally the same night. Since it's the third book in the trilogy and I don't want to really give anything away by recapping what happens in this book. What I can say is that they are still getting chased by the Edison group and Chloe is still learning to control her powers. The only thing that changes is pretty much the setting and new characters are introduced. Oh and we finally get to see what happens when Derek's change is complete.

I said this before and I will say it again, I was a Derek girl from the start. I don't know why but I was. I always was the type to root for the underdog. So I was really happy that in The Awakening the two of them started to get closer and even more so in this book. Although you can see that Derek is trying really hard to fight his feelings for Chloe since after all, his brother Simon is smitten with her. However, you can tell he notices the change in Chloe and how she is acting different around him and I think that makes him even more confused.

I liked the addition of the extra characters. I thought they added a nice bonus to the story and I wonder if we will ever get a glimpse into the pack from Syracuse. (yes I am still hung up on that!)

Favorite quote...
"I told myself Simon was wrong. I'd never be dumb enough to fall for Derek. But I had. With him so close, my stomach kept doing weird flips. It wasn't fear. It hadn't been fear for a while." -Chloe

  1. Oooh this is one of the series I'm going to have to try in 2013. I'm still working on her Women of the Otherworld series and am a little over half way through and really enjoying them. Can't wait to start this set. I always like the underdog too :)
