25 Authors of Christmas with D.T. Dyllin

We are going to do something a little different for our interview today. Instead of the usual author based questions, we will be asking D.T. Dyllin holiday questions :)

D.T. was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Black & Gold for life, baby!) And now she lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband and two very spoiled GSDs.
Hidden Gates, Book one in The P.J. Stone Gates Trilogy, and Feeling Death the first in a new PNR series, are both set for release in 2013 from Dragonfairy Press.

What are a few of your unusual holiday traditions.
I actually don't have any unusual holiday traditions...unfortunately. Sad...so sad. The normalcy of my holiday traditions are stifling. lol

What kind of tree are you? Are you real or artificial? Do you have a theme or do random ornaments adorn your branches?
This is actually a tough question. Real trees need lots of care and attention and die rather quickly. But they smell good. An artificial tree remains perfectly groomed...but was never alive to begin with. Hmmm...I guess I'd have to be a real tree because my life might be short but at least I had one to begin with..and I smell good! I may have over thought that question a bit. lol And I'd definitely have random ornaments adorning my branches because I'm a very random person and therefore I'd be a random ornament kind of tree.

One year I tried dressing my cats in cute holiday dresses for pictures to send to the Mr. when he was deployed. They hated it and I got the stink eye from them for the rest of the day. Now, I know that you have two adorable GSD's named Kira and Loki. Have you ever or do you plan to, dress them up for the holiday?
Last year I tried to get Loki to wear reindeer antlers but that didn't go over so well. He ate them. *sigh* So I settled for a holiday bandana with him posing in front of our fireplace. This year it's time for round two! The gloves are off! He will be wearing some antlers or a santa hat for pictures! It'll be Kira's first Christmas with us so I'm going to have to test the waters with her costume tolerance level. There are no excuses for Loki anymore though, he's two years old and therefore he's getting Rudolphed, or at least Blitzened. ;)

What is the one present that you've received for Christmas that when you opened it you thought, "What on earth were they thinking?" but instead you smiled and said "Oh my god, Wow! Thanks!"
I'm going to go general with my answer on this one... Anytime anyone picks out jewelry for me. I'm also allergic to silver so there's been several occasions when I've gotten some big gaudy pieces of jewelry that are silver to boot and I'm like..."Ummm...thanks?" Meanwhile I'm thinking, "Do you want me to break out in hives while looking like a hooker? Yes, you know me so well."

What is the one holiday song that drives you bat s#*t crazy? You know the one where you start to sing along and then catch yourself and quickly change the channel.
I'm really good at tuning out the stuff I don't like but I will say that I drive other people crazy by singing the Chipmunk Christmas song all the time. You know... "Christmas, Christmas time is near, time for toys and time for cheer... etc etc ... Me I want a Hula-Hoop!" Do I have it stuck in your head now?? I hope so!

What is the one food/drink item that you MUST have for it to officially be Christmas?
Gingerbread Dudes. Yes that's what I call them. Got a problem with that? :/

Now it comes down to the most important question of all... are you on Santa's Naughty or Nice list?
I'm so good at being naughty that I'd have to say NICE! Yep...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

  2. I haven't read any of your books but will definitely add them to my TBR pile. I'm slowly reading through them but life has a way of getting in my face ;)
I live in Lebanon, TN which is 30 minutes east of Nashville. I have ties to Pittsburgh too because my little bro lives near there.
As for what I want for Christmas....just some peace and quiet for a few days.
    Happy Holidays,
    Lori

  3. I am hoping for something personal from the hubby. I always buy my own gifts so it would be nice if he surprised me.
