Okay, so cats don t always land on their feet.

I know that better than most. Since rejoining the Pride, I've made big decisions and even bigger mistakes: the kind paid for with innocent lives. As the first and only female enforcer, I have plenty to prove to my father, the Pride, and myself. And with murdered toms turning up in our territory, I m working harder than ever, though I always find the energy for a little after-hours recreation with Marc, my partner both on- and off-duty.

But not all of my mistakes are behind me. We re beginning to suspect that the dead are connected to a rash of missing human women and that they can all be laid at my feet--two or four, take your pick. And one horrible indiscretion may yet cost me more than I can bear.

My thoughts...
Where Stray almost scared me off, Rogue reeled me in. Our little girl Faythe seems like she has finally grown up some and started taking responsibility for her actions. She is acting more her role as being not only an enforcer but possibly one day taking over as alpha. Apparently, what happened in Stray really brought her life into perspective and opened her eyes some. Now that isn't saying that she isn't still a little immature but it is manageable where as in Stray I wanted to reach through the book and choke her sometimes.

Marc and Faythe start out strong in this book and I couldn't be happier. I really liked Marc from the first book. In this book Marc opens up about being scratched and turned. Faythe asks him what the first thing that he remembered after he woke up from being scratched and Marc says "You. I woke up and saw you standing in the doorway staring at me with these huge green eyes. You had a headless doll under one arm, and dirt smeared across your forehead. And all I could think about was what a beautiful child you were." If that isn't aw worthy than I don't know what is. Marc really stepped up higher in my book at least. There were a few vulnerable moments shared between him and Faythe that really showed you a little bit more about him.

I also liked the story line in this book. You get more closure in this book from the whole tabby kidnapping incident that took place in Stray. There are also a couple of twists along the way that make the story more interesting. I won't give anything away but players in the book are swapped, news ones come into play and others leave.

Favorite part...
is the beginning, when Faythe is trying to subdue the stray. Her and Marc were supposed to be heading out for a little getaway but instead the alpha called and needed them to "catch and release" the stray outside of their territory. So suffice to say Faythe is already upset that her plans have veered off the path but the stray is giving her a rough time and to top it off Marc is just standing back laughing at her.
Faythe- "Can you give me a hand, here?"
Masculine laughter rang out behind her. "You're doing just fine, querida."
"Don't...fucking...call...me...that" she growled through clenched jaws. Marc laughed unmoved by her threat.
"Let me go, bitch." the stray growled.
Behind her Marc chuckled again. "I think he likes you, Faythe."
Faythe- "Either help or shut up."
