In My Mailbox (8)

In My Mailbox is Kristi's (aka The Story Siren) way of getting bloggers together to write about what new books they just got their hands on for the week. It doesn't have to be books that you actually received in the mail, it can be books that you bought in a store or even books that you picked up from your local library.

Halo
(Halo #1)
By: Alexandra Adornetto

Three angels – Gabriel, the warrior ; Ivy, the healer ; and Bethany, the youngest and most human – are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They must work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments.
Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems too strong.
The angel’s mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?

Could be the treasure she's been seeking all her life...

Changing the Game
(Play by Play #2)
By: Jaci Burton

Win at any cost. That's always been the mantra of sports agent Liz Darnell. When she carries things too far and risks losing her number one client- baseball pro Gavin Riley- Liz realizes that she'll have to work extra innings to regain his trust. It might not be too much of a stretch. She's had a thing for this player's moves since she first laid eyes on him, and by the looks of it, he wants her just as bad. And Gavin's more than ready- especially when Liz is offering herself as part of the bargain. For added thrills, he decides to throw a little curve ball Liz's way to see just how far she's willing to go to keep him as a client. But when love unexpectedly enters the playing field, neither Liz nor Gavin are ready for the biggest game-changer of all.

With his very life at stake, Adam’s only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.

Outlander (20th Anniversary Edition)
(Outlander #1)
By: Diana Gabaldon

The year is 1945. Claire Randall is traveling with her husband when she touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is hurled back in time to a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of our Lord 1743. Catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, she soon realizes that an alliance with James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, might be the only way to survive. Thus begins a work of unrivaled storytelling that has become a modern classic.

I'm really looking forward to your comments on halo! The cover is very catching, and I have to wonder at how angels are portrayed... that's one difficult supernatural creature, I think!
