In My Mailbox (2)

In My Mailbox is Kristi's (aka The Story Siren) way of getting bloggers together to write about what new books they just got their hands on for the week. It doesn't have to be books that you actually received in the mail, it can be books that you bought in a store or even books that you picked up from your local library.

Borrowed from the library...

City of Fallen Angels
(The Mortal Instruments #4)
By Cassandra Clare

City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever.

Blue Moon
(The Immortals #2)
By Alyson Noël

In an attempt to save him, Ever travels to the magical dimension of Summerland, where she learns the secrets of Damen’s tortured past; a past which he has always kept hidden from her. But in her quest to cure Damen, Ever discovers an ancient text that details the workings of time. Now Ever must chose between turning back the past and saving her family from the accident that claimed their lives—or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows sicker every day

Raine
(The Lords of Satyr #2)
By Elizabeth Amber

AS A LOVER, HIS SKILLS ARE LEGENDARY ...
BUT IN MATTERS OF THE HEART, HE HAS MUCH TO LEARN ...
The loyal satyr begins a search that leads him to Tuscany to romantic Venice, where his beautiful bride awaits, unaware of what passionate delights fate has planned for her. Raine is careful not to reveal his powerful satyr sexuality, for fear of driving yet another woman away. But unbeknown to him, Jordan is no ordinary woman and was born with an insatiable appetite for love. And as Raine's heart begins to melt for her, how long will he be able to to hide his true nature when Jordan seems to want him so fiercely?

* Funny story about this book. When I went to pick it up from the library the librarian flips it over to scan the bar-code on the back and says "Oh wow, I have never seen that before on a book." She shows me the back of the book where there it says "WARNING - This is a really hot book (sexually explicit) ". Then she flips over and looks at the cover and I laugh and say "With a cover like that, you would think that it's warning enough." To which she replies "I noticed when it came in and was looking at it yesterday." I couldn't help but laugh at that. This cover is most definitely a head turner.

The Sifters Series
By Rachel Vincent

There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . .
And I'm one of them.

I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds. Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked. I'd been warned about Strays -- werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared. This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever -- and whoever -- I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays -- 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them . . .

Spellbound
by Cara Lynn Shultz

Life hasn't been easy on sixteen-year-old Emma Conner, so a new start in New York may be just the change she needs. But the posh Upper East Side prep school she has to attend? Not so much. Friendly faces are few and far between, except for one that she's irresistibly drawn to—Brendan Salinger, the guy with the rock-star good looks and the richest kid in school, who might just be her very own white knight.

But even when Brendan inexplicably turns cold, Emma can't stop staring. Ever since she laid eyes on him, strange things have been happening. Streetlamps go out wherever she walks, and Emma's been having the oddest dreams: visions of herself in past lives—visions that warn her to stay away from Brendan. Or else.
